Hip Joint

The hip joint is prone to osteoarthritis, injuries, and overuse. Typical symptoms include pain and restricted mobility, which can make everyday life difficult. Conservative therapies such as physiotherapy are often effective, while in advanced cases, joint replacement may be necessary.

Hip Osteoarthritis – Common and Often Overlooked

Many people know the feeling: the first steps in the morning are painful, but after a few movements, the discomfort subsides. Such symptoms are often ignored, yet they may indicate the onset of hip osteoarthritis. This degenerative joint disease is characterised by excessive cartilage wear and is the most common condition affecting the hip joint.

Possible Causes of Osteoarthritis:

  • Inflammation

  • Mechanical misalignments

  • Metabolic disorders

The disease often goes unnoticed for years. Early signs, such as pain after prolonged activity, are frequently misinterpreted as muscle soreness or minor complaints.

Typical Symptoms Over Time:

  • Early Stage: Start-up pain after periods of rest (e.g. in the morning or after sitting for a long time).

  • Advanced Stage: Restricted mobility, fatigue pain after walking longer distances.

  • Late Stage: Night and resting pain, difficulties climbing stairs or putting on shoes and socks, with walking distance increasingly limited.
